Assistant Manager--Programming (Dance)

Designation	:	Assistant Manager--Programming (Dance)
Description	:	The National Centre for the Performing Arts, Mumbai, is looking for a Assistant Manager-Programming, to work with the Head of Dance Programming to create and execute dance events at NCPA. The NCPA in Mumbai is India’s premiere cultural institution, with 5 theatres, a vast library of the performing arts, and educational activities, across genres- theatre, dance, Indian music, western music, jazz, photography, literature, and film. NCPA dance programming presents over 60 events each year, including 3 major festivals of dance in Mumbai, and is a vibrant centre of dance activity in Mumbai . The Assistant Manager, Dance Programming will work as a part of the Dance Programming team, reporting to the Head of Dance Programming, to develop and execute dance events of all kinds- performances, lectures, seminars, festivals, workshops, and classes. The key responsibility is to create and maintain clear communication and dissemination of information from the Dance department to other departments internally- i.e. to Marketing, PR, the magazine, technical, membership. Responsibilities: Internal administration- Acknowledge and record applications from artists; Maintain records of performances, draft contracts, and monitor budgets; provide information to the NCPA Marketing team for fund-raising for dance events; work closely with the NCPA PR and Communications team to create and edit program descriptions, articles, advertisements, and publicity materials on schedule, with attention to detail and consideration of the context of the particular program/festival; procure all necessary photos and information from artists; distribute information and update other teams within the organisation regarding dance events. Accounts- work with the Head and Programme Coordinator to complete accounts for each performance, particularly the marketing collaterals accounts (with the marketing services team). Draft and edit- Draft and edit written material that is sent out to the PR team for press releases, to the marketing team for sponsor proposals, to the marketing services team for collateral materials, and to the On Stage team for publishing in the magazine. This requires detail-oriented proof-reading, proficient writing skills, as well as a knowledge of the dance, the performers, and the context of the performance. Conceptualisation- work closely with the Head of Dance Programming to create engaging and original dance performances, festivals, workshops and classes of all forms- classical and contemporary, Indian and international. Dance network- maintain and expand the NCPA dance network; partner with other dance presenters in Mumbai and nationally; maintain open and positive communication with dancers, presenters, audience, students; work in line with NCPA’s overall goals of expanding audiences for the performing arts in India. Requires proficiency in Excel and Word in order to create a spreadsheet of audience and artists’ data, handle mass mailings to send out info to the public about NCPA dance programs, liaise with schools to create special performances for school children. Programme execution- liaise with performing artists before, during and after their performance at NCPA; be present at performances to assist the Program Coordinator with light, décor, sound, stage, travel, stay, payment to artists; assist Program Coordinator and Programming Head to ensure overall success of performances, and the comfort of the artists and audiences that come to NCPA. Dance Education- Assist in NCPA’s efforts to reach out to students at schools, colleges, and other educational institutions with the performing arts, through workshops, lecture demonstrations, and classes, work closely with outreach department to create a special school children’s program once every two months. A Bachelor’s degree and work experience in arts management is preferred. The candidate should possess strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills and should be proficient with Microsoft Office (including Excel), Internet and other basic computer programmes. The candidate should possess the ability to work and coordinate with various departments, artists, students, and audience. Excellent organisational and logistical skills, with acute attention to detail.

Box Office Staff

Designation	:	Box Office Staff
Description	:	Box Office Staff Duties and responsibilities: 1) Computerized Ticketing: Ticketing at the box office. Should be well versed with Vista systems. Should be versatile to handle multiple layouts and several events across genres and theatre types. 2) Manual Ticketing: Should have knowledge of manual ticketing which involves catering to member’s ticketing which is discounted. Should be aware of all rules and regulations with regard to the entertainment department, stamping etc. 3) Current Booking:We have venue booking for all shows one hour prior to the show beginning. Should be adept to sell tickets at the venue by maintaining NCPA box office standards. 4) Back office operations: Be able to furnish managers with all the various reports required with regard to ticket sales 5) Cash depositing: Daily revenue depositing system to be maintained and reports to be given to the accounts department. 6) Licenses:Should be aware of the various licenses required like ticket selling license, theatre license, permissions, censor certificate, NOCs, Foreign Artist Performance permission, FEMA etc. Reporting to the Box Office Manager at all times. Soft Skills: Should be a fast learner and be able to grasp quickly Should be enthusiastic and willing to work long schedules Will be advantageous if the candidate can speak several languages like Hindi, Marathi, English, Gujarati Should have a pleasing personality Should be able to communicate to members clearly and with correct information Should be flexible in order to cater to rapidly changing plans Preferred age – 25 yrs to 35 yrs.
