This programme has been organised by NCPA’s Morarka Cultural Centre.
Sanjay and Vasant Manubhai, brothers and master Chitaras from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, belong to the Vaghri community, which has been creating Matano Chandarvo or "painted cloths for the Goddess", used in religious rituals, for over 300 years. The pachedis serve as temporary temple structures. The rectangular veils are the walls of the bamboo skeleton and the square ones the roof. At the workshop, participants will learn to paint a backdrop of their own. Dr. Sofiya Karanjia will make an audiovisual presentation on the history of the art form.
Workshop Fee: Rs.600/-
