Prateeksha trained in Kuchipudi under the guidance of her mother and Guru Vyjayanthi Kashi, at the age of thirteen.She topped the state in the Kuchipudi dance exams with a distinction, and is now an upcoming solo dancer and also plays prominent roles in dance dramas.
This evening, Prateeksha presents Kuchipudi Vaibhavam. The evening will commence with VandeVande, an invocation to Balatripura Sundari, goddess of the Kuchipudi village. This will be followed by a Shabdam, depicting stories from Rama’s life; a Tarangam in praise of Lord Krishna.
She will then perform a Javali depicting a Saamaanya Nayika (a courtesan well-versed in the arts), who eagerly waits for her beloved to bring toher jewellery as promised; but to her despair, the Nayaka has arrived bare-handed. She mocks him for all the false promises that he made to her to win her heart. This will be followed by Shankara Srigiri, describing the dance of Lord Shiva; Pravesha Dharavu of Satyabhama, describing the entrance of Satyabhamaandand will conclude with a Thillana in RaagVasanti.
