The Symphony Orchestra of India is back... this time with its Eighth Celebrity Concert Season, presenting a ‘romantic’ repertoire this February.
Our third concert welcomes back Johannes Wildner in yet another return engagement with the SOI, which has always thrilled our audiences. In his first appearance in February 2007, he conducted Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony to much acclaim. He was to return to conduct our first full-scale production of an opera, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. He now returns to conduct Tchaikovsky’s final and riveting sixth symphony, the Pathétique. The concert will also feature the abundance, exuberance and classic weavings of Aram Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto, with Marat Bisengaliev as soloist. Another orchestral showpiece – Otto Nicolai’s Overture to the Merry Wives of Windsor, opens this
fine concert.
