The Piramal Art Gallery was developed by the NCPA with the help of a generous donationfrom Dilip Piramal. It is one of the only galleries of its kind in India to exhibit works of leading Indian and international photographers, as well as other forms of visual art. The gallery is spacious and modular in design, allowing for more than one exhibition at a time. It is temperature controlled and is equipped with professional lighting and security systems.

The NCPA’s Centre for Photography as an Art-Form (CPA) operates from the gallery.

The Centre for Photography as an Art-Form

The CPA was established through a grant from the Ford Foundation to develop a resource for promoting, archiving and exhibiting photography as an art and celebrating the work of leading practitioners in the field.

The CPA preservation vault houses a rare collection of the works of renowned photographers such as Judith Mara Gutman, August Sander, Asvin Mehta and Raghubir Singh.
