An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with the Museum Society of Mumbai and supported by K. V. Mariwala Philanthropy Initiative
On its 60th anniversary, the Museum Society of Mumbai, with generous support from the NCPA and K. V. Mariwala Philanthropy Initiative, will present a lecture-demonstration by Mohiniattam exponent Divya Warier.
Divya Warier is a distinguished Mohiniattam soloist and senior disciple of Dr. Neena Prasad at Soungandhikam Kalari. She has trained in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniattam under Jayashree Nair, and has further honed her craft under Sharmila Biswas and Venu G. A graded artiste of Doordarshan, Mumbai, she holds an MFA from SASTRA University and an MBA from Mumbai University. Warier teaches at Avyukt Arts, an initiative of the Warrier Foundation, where she also serves as a Trustee. Honoured with titles like the A.T. Govindarajan Pillai Award and Nrityavilasini, she continues her artistic journey and is currently pursuing a diploma in Mohiniattam.
The Museum Society of Mumbai was founded in 1963 with the aim to promote public interest in the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya and bolster appreciation for art and culture in the people of Mumbai. Over the years, the society which has a dedicated group of volunteers, has become a highly respected and dynamic organisation. The society organises lectures by renowned national and international scholars, guided visits to significant historical and cultural sites, and seminars and workshops on topics related to culture and history. The society aims to inculcate a sense of history and culture in young people, offering specially tailored programmes for school and college students, as well as for people with disabilities or from underprivileged backgrounds, children with cancer and senior citizens.
