Event Details

Akoopar is the only play in the Gujarati theatre, based on the life of the maldharis –cattle breeders – who lives in the forest of Gir in Gujarat. As is well known, Gir is the last home of the Asiatic lion.

The play covers the culture and traditions of the maldharis, their relationship with nature, animals and their philosophy of life, and conservation of the Gir, the environment and of planet Earth.  It is a total theatre with drama, songs, dances, music & drama.

The play is based on a popular Gujarati novel Akoopar written by Dhruv Bhatt
