Barad has been honoured with the “Best Experimental Play” award at the “Zee Natya Gaurav 2026″, one of the most prestigious honours in Marathi theatre. The play has also received the Best Writing, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress awards. It is now the most awarded play in the Experimental category this year.

Barad is the story of a farming family from rural Maharashtra. The main characters are two brothers and their widowed sister. The brothers have a dispute over their land and decide not to cultivate it until the issue is resolved. But as the story unfolds, the conflict slowly becomes not just about the land but also about the life of their widowed sister. During this journey, the play makes the audience laugh, sometimes brings tears to their eyes, and makes them think.

Barad with its strong writing, realistic acting, suitable set design, evocative music, and effective lighting, takes the audience into the atmosphere of rural life and creates a vivid and emotional theatre experience. By the end of the play, the audience leaves the theatre with the feeling that they have witnessed something truly special.
