Conceived by composer Shantanu Moitra and vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty, Pankh brings together two creative forces united by a shared belief that music does not just help us soar—it brings us home to who we truly are.
As the daughter and disciple of Ajoy Chakrabarty, the eminent exponent of the Patiala gharana, Kaushiki Chakraborty is celebrated for extraordinary command over the voice and effortless exposition in diverse genres. Recognised for his artistic explorations beyond the realms of conventional music, Shantanu Moitra is an award-winning composer known for his music for notable Hindi films including Parineeta, 3 Idiots, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and many others.
Coming from such distinctly different musical traditions, Chakraborty and Moitra unite in Pankh to rediscover themselves through music. The production is a collection of songs—each born from a story and each a world unto itself.
Musically, the repertoire spans a vast landscape—from poignant thumri and devotional odes to exuberant love songs and vibrant folk tunes. Supported by a dynamic ensemble of young instrumentalists, the evening also puts a spotlight on Chakraborty’s son and disciple, Rishith Desikan, as a rising star poised to carry on his musical legacy.
