Sometime around the turn of the 19th century, violin, which is actually an instrument of Western origin, was adopted into the fold of Indian music, and very soon it became prominent in the music ensembles, especially in the Carnatic (also known as the South Indian) tradition. Dr. L. Subramaniam is an internationally renowned violinist and composer, who has collaborated with legendary musicians across the world. While remaining within the roots of Carnatic music, he has made pioneering efforts in the field of Indo-Jazz fusion. With over 200 recordings to his credit, some of his fusion works are considered as milestones. The great blues harmonica maestro, Corky Siegel, is also a composer, blues pianist, singer and songwriter. His performances as soloist with orchestras and ballets worldwide, and his collaborations in bringing a ground-breaking blues-classical sound to national attention, offer a glimpse of his outstanding musicianship. In this recital, Dr. L. Subramaniam and his accomplished son and disciple, Ambi Subramaniam, will first take to the stage as solo artistes presenting traditional Carnatic music. In the grand finale, the duo will engage in a crossover musical dialogue with Corky Siegel.
Late entry will not be permitted.
