CITI-NCPA Promising Artistes Series

Rishi Shankar Upadhyay, pakhawaj

Sumana Gupta, vocal – dhrupad

Prominent among the various programmes undertaken by Citi and NCPA are two initiatives: Support to Gurus and Scholarships to Young Musicians. These programmes are in the field of Hindustani vocal (dhrupad and khayal) and instrumental music (melody and percussion instruments). This series is launched to showcase beneficiaries of the above schemes. In this event, two shishyas will be featured individually. First, there will be a pakhawaj recital by Rishi Shankar Upadhyay, son and disciple of well-known pakhawaj exponent Ravi Shankar Upadhyay, followed by a dhrupad recital by Sumana Gupta, a talented disciple of Falguni Mitra, an eminent exponent of the Betiya tradition of dhrupad.

Admission on a first-come-first-served basis. NCPA Members will get preferential seating till 6.20 pm.
