Prominent among the various initiatives undertaken by Citi and NCPA are two schemes: Support to Gurus and Scholarships to Young Musicians. These programmes are in the field of Hindustani vocal (dhrupad and khayal) and instrumental music (melody and percussion instruments). The CITI-NCPA Promising Artistes Series has been launched to showcase beneficiaries of these schemes.

Tejas Vinchurkar started learning the tabla from his father, Pradeep Vinchurkar, at the age of three and later developed an inclination towards the flute. He was initially tutored by the late Ravi Garud and presently, he is a disciple of Abhay Phagre. He was the recipient of the CITI-NCPA Scholarship in Classical Music for the year 2016-17. He was awarded the gold medal in the A.I.R. Music Competition in 2010. He has played for television shows like Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and has performed with Sonu Nigam, Hariharan, Talat Aziz, Pankaj Udhas, Kailash Kher and others. He has also played the flute for songs in more than 50 Bollywood movies.

Shruti Padhye-Kulkarni has been learning classical vocal music from Pradeep Natekar for the last 20 years and semi-classical music from Dhanashri Pandit-Rai. She achieved Sangeet Alankar with distinction and M.A. (Music) with a gold medal in 2011. She is a ‘B-High’ grade artiste of All India Radio. She was the recipient of the CITI-NCPA Scholarship in Classical Music for the year 2010-11 and the Government of India scholarship in Classical Vocal Music for 2011-2013. She has several performances to her credit and has won many prizes from cultural organisations.
