An NCPA Production

English Play

Following sold out runs in 2018 & 2019, the Tony & Olivier award-winning play Constellations by Nick Payne returns to the NCPA in February 2024

Marianne and Roland meet at a barbecue. They are single, or recently single or in a relationship or married? Perhaps they go on a date and fall in love, or perhaps it doesn’t go well? Maybe they get together and they break up? After a chance encounter at a dance lesson preparing for an upcoming wedding, they get back together, or maybe Marianne reveals that she’s now engaged to someone else. Or perhaps Roland is engaged. Or what if Roland and Marianne navigate all of this and get married? Or what if their time together is cut tragically short?

Does free will exist? Or are we playing out one of a multitude of predetermined possibilities?

Nick Payne’s touching and funny multi award-winning play is about many things – String theory, the multiverse, free will, choice, honey – but it’s also about what it is to love someone so much that you will put their needs before your own, no matter the cost.

Written by Nick Payne

Starring Aahana Kumra (Yudh, Salaam Venky, Call My Agent: Bollywood, Lipstick Under My Burkha) and Kunaal Roy Kapur (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Nautanki Saala, Love Per Square Foot, Delhi Belly) experience the multiverse brought to life on stage.

Directed by Bruce Guthrie (Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, St Nicholas) and created by a multi award-winning team, don’t miss this enthralling play that has wowed audiences across the globe.
