Contributions of classical music maestros to Hindi films

By Ajoy Chakrabarty

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with Sahachari Foundation Events

Supported by Kamalnayan Jamnalal Bajaj Foundation

CSR Partner: Jefferies India Private Limited.

This thematic concert is designed to revive a bygone era of Hindi film music when grand masters of classical music such as Ravi Shankar, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Bhimsen Joshi and others were invited by film-music-directors to compose songs for films. In some cases, the songs were played/sung by the maestros themselves.

With an astounding command over classical, semi-classical and other genres such as khayal, tarana, thumri, folk songs and Rabindra sangeet, Ajoy Chakrabarty is acclaimed as an outstanding vocalist today.

In this presentation, Chakrabarty along with Anubhav Khamaru and Ayesha Mukherjee, will present some of these enduring compositions. Some songs will be presented with short video clips.

Yunus Khan will be the compère for the evening.

Box Office: 26th December for Members & 29th December for Public.
