Language Hindi
‘Hardit Kaur Gill’ is an Hindi adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s popular plaaay “Hedda Gabler”. Though it can be termed a ‘feminist ‘play since the central character is a woman, yet Hedda is not the conventional female character even for Ibsen. The play offers the opportunity to glimpse the real and the frightening yet often comic mechanics of emotional violence at very close range. In this adaptation ‘Hardit Kaur Gill’ is a timeless figure searching for the happiness that always eludes her. As a result this story becomes a universal tragedy about all human beings, regardless of gender, who find themselves at a dead end, a wall created by their own imbalance and design.
