Kathak by Parwati Dutta and Mahagami Gurukul Ensemble
Iti in Sanskrit refers to something that has been said or thought, or lays stress on what precedes. One of the most talented, versatile thinker-dancers in India, Parwati Dutta along with her group of Kathak shishyas will present Iti (thus), an evening showcasing the ancient and medieval period of Kathak, blending with today’s aesthetics and movement-dynamics. Researched compositions based on Dhrupad-s, Prabandha-s, Pada-s and symbolism of utterances (varna-s) seek to explore the gravity and grandeur of Kathak idiom. The performance is an attempt to revisit and relive the lost elements of Kathak traditions with respect to music, rhythm, melodic content movement and attunement.
