This concert will feature ragas of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana assigned to the period of late evening and early night. The style is known for its vast repertory of jod (compound) ragas and intricate note patterns.
Manjiri Asanare Kelkar has trained with Madhusudan Kanetkar, a direct protégé of Bhurji Khan, son of the renowned maestro of Jaipur-Atrauli gharana, Alladiya Khan. After her guru’s demise, she continued her training with the legendary vocalist, Kishori Amonkar, adding new dimensions to her craft. Her style is marked by a systematic and balanced blend of melody, rhythm and lyrics.
