Aditi Mangaldas is a leading dancer and choreographer in the classical Indian dance form of Kathak. With extensive training under renowned gurus of Kathak, Kumudini Lakhia and Birju Maharaj, Mangaldas is recognised for her artistry, technique, eloquence and characteristic energy that mark every performance. Besides dancing and choreographing classical productions, both solo and group, she has broken new ground by using her knowledge and experience of Kathak as a springboard to evolve a contemporary dance vocabulary, infused with the spirit of the classical. She was nominated for Outstanding Female Performance (classical) for The Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards 2017. Her recent work Forbidden, co-commissioned by the NCPA and premiered at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, won her a nomination under Outstanding Female Modern Performance at The Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards 2023. She heads the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company – The Drishtikon Dance Foundation.
‘LOST …in the forest!’ was conceived, choreographed, danced and filmed during the pandemic in 2021 and comprises two works—Naav Mein Nadiya (River in the Boat) and Chhan Chhan…Chhip Chhip (Now Seen…Now Not). The online premiere of the work, conceptualised, danced and choreographed by Mangaldas was held in 2021.
