The Speed

Bharatanatyam by Sanddhya Purechha and troupe

Director at Bharata College of fine Arts & Culture, versatile Bharatanatyam danseuse Sanddhya Pureccha and her troupe will present The Speed. This piece has linked the element of dance to literature. The charis and the gatis taken from the Natyashastra and Abhinaya Darpana as seen in the sculptures and paintings of Gods and Goddess are together linked to dance in the medium of Shashtra and Sampradaya.

Inter connect

Contemporary dance by Astad Deboo and music by Mohi Baha’ud-din Dagar

The prominent element of music goes hand in hand with dance. Pioneer of contemporary dance in India, Padma Shri and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Astad Deboo will be collaborating with noted rudra-veena player and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mohi Baha’ud-din Dagar to discover this interconnection between contemporary dance and Indian classical music. This collaboration is a prelude to a larger production that would be premiered at the NCPA in late 2018 and is in association with the Astad Deboo Dance Foundation.

(Beyond)

Kathak by Uma Dogra and troupe

Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Uma Dogra and troupe will present Beyond. Every created being beats with the oneness of the universe’s song… a play of reflection from within which manifests all around. The beauty from within draws from the many wonders of nature. The sights alive evoke a range of emotions, a spell of discovery, joy, desire and strength. As one binds with the environment there comes a realization. The eternal intertwining of life and death whereby life continues to pour into the permanence of death. There is beauty to behold in finding the eternal truth.

Sethu– The bridging metaphor

Multi-dance style presentation, Conceptualized by Lata Surendra

Lata Surendra is a Bharatanatyam exponent and a recipient of the Kalashree’ Puraskaram, by Kerala Sangeet Natak Academy. She has conceptualized Sethu which is a metaphor for the bridge that connects each of us to the dynamic flux of existence. We are part of a dynamic, mutually interconnected whole where the visible and the invisible world go hand in hand.  To be visible we need to exist in duality as we are matter and spirit, man and woman; surfing through the poetry of stillness and movement, sound and silence   with the body and soul. Having journeyed inside -out we become a bridge – a living metaphor defining the pulsating synergies of interconnectedness in an existence flowing out from us as an absolute benediction.
