Dr. Uma Rele is an Indian dancer and an academician. She is the Principal of the Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, in Mumbai. On completing her B.A. Hons. in Economics & Political Science, Rele joined Nalanda due to her undying passion for Indian classical dance – Bharatanatyam. She completed her course at Nalanda with distinction in Masters and completed her doctoral research on Nayikas, heroines of Indian Classical Dance. Rele is an exceptionally well-trained, highly qualified dancer who is not only a proficient performer but also an excellent theoretician, analyst and guru. Gayatri Subramaniam is a noted Bharatanatyam dancer, and the founder-director of Guru G. V. Ramani Natya Kala Foundation. After securing a gold medal in BFA, she completed her MFA in Bharatanatyam in second position from Shri Sarfojiraje Bhosale Centre’s Bharata College of Fine Arts and Culture, Mumbai.
