An Evening of Classical Dance

The evening will have two young talented dancers and performers. Bharatanatyam dancer Jyotsna Jagannathan is a former disciple of A. Lakshmanaswamy, currently under the mentorship of Malavika Sarukkai and Bragha Bessell and will be performing Margam. Odissi dancer Shashwati Garai Ghosh received training in dance under noted dancer and choreographer, Sharmila Biswas. She also received guidance from eminent gurus such as Kelucharan Mohapatra, Kalanidhi Narayanan, Sonal Mansingh and Durgacharan Ranbir. She has trained in dance therapy under Dr. Kannan Pughazendi and has performed in prominent dance festivals as a soloist as well as with her guru’s troupe. She is also a recipient of the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Ghosh will be performing Spandan – an ensemble of dances resonating through narratives by Ghosh.
