Born A. S. Dileep Kumar, Alla Rakha Rahman, also popularly known as A. R. Rahman, is an internationally acclaimed composer, singer, song-writer and music producer. Starting with the Tamil film Roja in the early 1990s, today he is one of the world’s best-selling recording artistes. The body of his work includes compositions for films as well as non-film projects. The film is titled after the Oscar-winning song composed by Rahman. It celebrates the Indian icon who is no less than a global phenomenon, depicting the turning points and milestones in his life.
