Hindustani Vocal Music Recital
By Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande & group

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with Sangeet Sabha, Bandra East

Founded in 1976, Sangeet Sabha in Bandra East is one of the premier institutions in Mumbai, presenting performances of Hindustani vocal and instrumental music that feature eminent artistes as well as young practitioners. The sabha is presently celebrating its golden jubilee, and this performance is the grand finale of the year-long celebrations.

Initially trained by Narayanrao Datar, Dr. Ashwini Bhide Deshpande was groomed in the Jaipur-Atrauli style by her mother, Manik Bhide, and Ratnakar Pai, a notable exponent and guru in this tradition. Today, she is known for her effortless exposition of complex (achhop) ragas with pleasing tonal quality and emotiveness.

Her recital will feature ragas assigned to the time of sunset and late evening, presented in typical Jaipur-Atrauli style, which is essentially known for its vast repertory of compound (jod) ragas and intricate note patterns.

Box Office: 26th February for Members & 1st March for Public.
