A Tribute to Legendary Indian Composers
Friday, 23rd to Sunday, 25th August – 6.30 pm
Indian music centres around well-structured melodic and rhythmic compositions known as bandish. It represents a central idea or base upon which the edifice of a performance is sculpted and realised. The three-day festival will showcase some of the most treasured works of the great composers, presented by eminent artistes.
(approx. 90 mins)
The works of Oothukkadu Venkata Subba Iyer (Venkata Kavi) are believed to have influenced the following generation of composers including the Trinity of Carnatic music. Aruna Sairam will present the compositions of this revered composer along with those composed by one of the celebrated Trinity, Muthuswami Dikshitar.
