Sanjeev Abhyankar
khayal, haveli sangeet and
Sanskrit pad

Trained under dhrupad maestros Zia Mohiuddin and Zia Fariduddin Dagar, Umakant Gundecha has behind him an illustrious four-decade-long career as a vocalist and guru of the Dagarvani dhrupad.

In this recital, Umakant Gundecha and his nephew and disciple, Anant Gundecha, will present some compositions by fabled composers, such as Swami Haridas and his eminent disciples, Tansen and Baiju.

Sanjeev Abhyankar has had the privilege of training with Jasraj, the inimitable maestro of the Mewati gharana. Continuing in his mentor’s style, his repertoire includes renditions of classical as well as devotional music. He will present select compositions created by his guru, Jasraj, from across the genres of khayal, haveli sangeet and Sanskrit pad.
