Artistes:
Purbita Mukherjee hails from a family with a rich background of music. Daughter of famous Rabindrasangeet exponent Pramita Mallick, she has trained at Manipuri Nartanalaya under the able guidance of the legendary maestro Guru Bipin Singh and Guru Kalavati Devi. Currently she is under the guidance of Padmashree Guru Darshana Jhaveri along with senior Manipuri disciple Latasana Devi.

Being a graded artiste of Doordarshan Kendra, Purbita has been awarded the title of Nartan Visharad along with Nartan Alankar from her institution Manipuri Nartanalaya supported by the Indian Ministry of Culture.

She has performed across India at various prestigious festivals including Khajuraho Dance Festival, Konarak Dance Festival, Surya Festival, Haridas  Sammelan, Uday Shankar Dance Festival, Kala Ghoda Dance Festival, Mudra Dance Festival organized by NCPA, to name a few. She has also performed frequently on the international stage as well as for ICCR sponsored shows. Some of the countries in which she has performed include United Kingdom, France, Germany, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Czech Republic and Hungary.

Purbita works extensively with the National Centre of Performing Arts conducting workshops, lecture demonstrations at various schools across Mumbai. She is also a guest teacher under NCPA’s Nritya Parichay outreach program for underprivileged children.

She runs her own institution Baikali Association in Kolkata for the last 11years and is also a dance teacher with Shahana Mumbai (a 40 year old institution dedicated to vocal and dance training)

Having many productions and works to her credit, Purbita is committed to spreading and teaching Manipuri Dance and culture far and wide.
