Starting June 3, the NCPA@home digital series is adding another dimension to its weekly broadcasts. In addition to its showcase of events from the International, Indian and Western Classical Music, and Dance genres from Thursday to Sunday, the NCPA has joined hands with Tata Literature Live! to stream a stimulating session from Mumbai’s premier annual literature festival every Wednesday at 6 pm.

on.

The first session to be broadcast this Wednesday is a straight talk titled Art & Activism by Carnatic vocalist, writer, activist and author T.M. Krishna, where he speaks about the intersection of the individual and the art.

Can an artiste create art that is a form of political or social currency, actively addressing cultural power structures rather than representing them or simply describing them? Some artistes believe art is about empowering individuals and communities and is generally situated in the public arena with artistes working closely with a community to generate the art. In this talk, T.M. Krishna shares his thoughts on the role that the arts could play. This event was a part of Tata Literature Live, the Mumbai LitFest, held on November 16, 2018, at the Tata Theatre, NCPA.

Please note: The videos will be available for a week post the streaming.
