Saint-Saëns: Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, Op. 61

Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3 comes from 1880, a period in which Saint-Saens was already an international figure garnering acclaim all over Europe. There is a fine refinement at work, which not only allows the violin to speak with great eloquence and virtuosity, but is a masterpiece of vintage Saint-Saens orchestration. There is internationalization apparent in the work, and perhaps a reason for it being so very popular.
Martyn Brabbins is Music Director of the English National Opera (ENO) and the Huddersfield Choral Society. He will lead the violin concerto with SOI Music Director and renowned violin virtuoso Marat Bisengaliev as the soloist.

This performance was recorded live on 4th February 2019,  at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, NCPA.
