Raas-Garba Nritya by Avani Shah

An NCPA PresentationĀ

It has been 38 years since Avani Shah began offering her prayers as a devotee to Maa Durga, the Devi, through Indian traditional raas-garba nritya. She is a trained Bharatanatyam andĀ  Kathak dancer who went on to become a choreographer from 1984 to 2018, from Varnam to Swarnam, two renowned organisations that promote Gujarati folk arts. She now continues to choreograph for her own troupe, NrityAvani. The troupe will be performing on an auspicious day of Navratri with 40 participants dancingĀ to Gujarati folk music.
