The world that we live in is buzzing with myriad traditions and musical forms across various indigenous cultures. It is natural for various musical styles from around the world to influence each other, leading to newer forms that keep evolving.

One World Many Musics showcases varied musical forms and reaffirms the peaceful co-existence of cultural and artistic plurality in the world. With this festival, we celebrate the power of music as a healing force that promotes crosscultural understanding and reminds people of all cultures and religions that we share a common humanity.

The Indian Choral Ensemble (TICE)
Friday, 10th October – 6.30 pm

Based in Chennai, The Indian Choral Ensemble seeks to bring together talented singers from across India to deliver captivating performances that seamlessly blend Western choral harmonies with Indian music aesthetics. The choral arrangements thus offer a mesmerising fusion of tradition and innovation. Performing original compositions in multiple Indian languages, as well as in English, under the choirdirector duo Kalyani Nair and Karthik Manickavasakam, the ensemble of 37 singers and six musicians masterfully showcases the majestic power of a large group-sound distinguished by its intricate six- to eight-part arrangements. Each voice contributes to multi-layered harmonies, leading to a complex yet rich sound offering a deeply textured and resonant musical experience.

Swanand Kirkire’s Baawra Live
Saturday, 11th October – 6.30 pm

Widely celebrated for over two decades for his distinctively evocative lyrics and emotive voice, Swanand Kirkire is a multifaceted personality. He is an award-winning lyricist, playback singer, actor and a writer for Hindi and Marathi films. A recipient of numerous awards, his lyrics for songs in films such as Parineeta, Masaan, 3 Idiots, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and many more are well-recognised.

Baawra is Kirkire’s live music endeavour which encourages the audience to be part of the performance, leading to sing-along concerts. It is an open, interactive experience where familiar lyrics become a shared voice. Performed with a dynamic band, the presentation is rooted in simplicity, emotion and heartfelt songwriting. With a song list that spans decades and styles, Baawra connects across generations.

In this presentation, Kirkire will perform some of his original compositions and well-known film songs, blending soulful music with storytelling to take the audience through a journey full of nostalgia and lyrical extravaganza.
