“Mapping of Mumbai – Revisiting the City through Verse/Prose”

Book Reading & Discussion

An NCPA Library Presentation in collaboration with Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Research Centre, University of Mumbai and Metamorphosis Theatre and Films

Mapping of Mumbai is a literary odyssey that delves deep into the mesmerising soul of India’s bustling financial capital, Mumbai. This book invites readers on an enchanting voyage through a rich tapestry of verse and prose, where words become a vibrant palette to paint the city’s physical, cultural and spiritual landscape. As the pages unfold, the reader is transported into the hearts and minds of resilient Mumbaikars, each narrating their unique experiences and dreams. This collection not only captures the spirit of Mumbai but also serves as a mirror reflecting the diverse tapestry of its people.

The reading is designed by Dr. Omkar Bhatkar, Artistic Director of Metamorphosis Theatre and Films. For the past 10 years, he has been exploring poetry as performance and has been able to create an aesthetic sensibility beyond genres at the crossroads of theatre, dance, film and poetry. This presentation will witness a commingling of varied art forms to bring selected pieces from the book to life onstage.
