Inshaallah by Abhiram Bhadkamkar is a novel in Marathi about the power of faith, resilience and human connections amidst societal challenges. Known for his evocative storytelling, Bhadkamkar captures the pulse of modern society while exploring timeless themes. The story unfolds against a backdrop of socio-political tensions in a marginalised settlement, where people grapple with poverty, illiteracy and addiction. When local youth are detained without prior notice, the disappearance of Juned , a bright, poetry-loving student, raises troubling questions The title of the novel, Inshaallah, meaning “God willing”, symbolises hope and our capacity to stay unbowed before t adversity. This reading, followed by a discussion, will induce r listeners to reflect on unity, justice and the complexities of coexistence.
