Dramatised Book Reading

An NCPA Library Presentation

Shankar Narayan Navare, affectionately known as Shanna, is one of the most cherished voices in Marathi literature. With over four decades of prolific writing, his novels, short stories, plays and film screenplays have become companions for generations of readers and audiences. What sets Shanna apart is his deceptively simple style, laced with gentle humour, warmth and deep human insight. His writing speaks in the voice of the common person, capturing everyday life, quiet struggles, tender relationships and the strength hidden in ordinary moments. Iconic works such as Oli Suki, Shanna De, Kasturi, Hasat Hasat Phasvuni, Marginchya Phulya,  plays such as  Surunga, Gahire Rang, Soor Rahu De, Guntata Hriday He and memorable films including Kalat Nakalat, Tu Tithe Mee, Ek Unad Diwas, continue to live in public memory.

Shanna…Kathanubhooti is a performative tribute that brings his literary world alive through evocative storytelling and dramatised readings.
