Three Lines, Infinite Worlds

An NCPA Library Presentation

Teen Eke Teen, a poetry collection by Nilima Phatak, introduces teenoli, a distinctive new poetic form of three-line poems rooted in Marathi literary sensibility.

Each teenoli is complete in itself, yet when presented together they form a cohesive and layered poetic experience. While the form may occasionally echo certain aesthetic qualities of the haiku, it stands apart as an independent and original experiment in contemporary Marathi poetry.

This programme brings the book alive through recitation, allowing audiences to experience the rhythm, emotion and immediacy of the teenoli, followed by a discussion on the creative process behind the book, its form, intent and evolution.

A perceptive foreword to the book by Dr. Kiran Kulkarni, Secretary of the Marathi Language Department and Cultural Affairs, Government of Maharashtra, critically engages with the form, while affirming its significance in nurturing innovation within Marathi poetry.
