For a decade, a Mumbai-based artist has embodied the verses of mystics. His life transforms when a serendipitous invitation arrives from a Spanish monk named Angel, asking him to perform the poetry of St. John of the Cross in Úbeda—the very place the saint died.

This impossible calling sparks a profound pilgrimage from East to West, a journey into the soul of mystic Spain, guided by friends who act as earthly angels. This journey becomes an intimate exploration of art and solitude that dissolves the illusion of time, revealing that the most profound bonds are not built, but are discovered in the sudden, quiet lightning of a soul’s recognition.

Chronicled through a triptych of forms: an intimate collection of digital letters sent home, poems born from the Spanish landscape, and an excerpt from the author’s companion novel, When Spain Called is a testament to unexpected grace, a celebration of the enduring art of letter-writing, and a story of how a voice can travel across centuries to find its purpose.
This is a multi-disciplinary presentation exploring the book’s central journey from India to Spain. It weaves together the digital letters, poetic verses, and narrative fragments from the book, using music and movement to translate the author’s internal and external pilgrimage into a compelling live experience. The presentation would be followed by an interactive discussion, Q&A, and a book signing with the author.
