Documentary Film Screening

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with Cinema Collective

Moon on the Man
English, Hindi, Marathi, Manipuri Film with English Subtitles (78 mins)

A mind-bending trip featuring India’s youngest freedom fighter, Guru Dutt and Ian Fleming in an observational feature-length documentary that questions reality, perception and choices through the afflux of time in the ever-evolving landscape of human perspectives.

What happens if we narrate stories we indiscriminately believe in but they never actually occurred?
What happens if our perception determines our reality, rather than the contrary?
What must a man do if the past is only a story he tells himself and history is merely a recollection of such stories? Moon on the Man looks at the most fundamental questions of reality, perception and choices.

As such, it is synonymous with every individual’s struggle to find direction and identity through the afflux of time in this ever-evolving landscape of human perspectives. The film looks at two eccentric personalities Praklawn and Sailesh, through their stories, life experiences and their everyday activities. This narrative is annexed by Aasif and Wadood at a juncture when the stories of Praklawn and Sailesh enter into the realms of magic realism. They scrutinise Praklawn’s and Sailesh’s eventful past and their debate on the men’s life throws open a Pandora’s box which questions the very nature of our reality.
