A Midwife’s Confession
Hindi and Angika with English subtitles (62 mins)

Almost 30 years ago, journalist Amitabh Parashar interviewed village midwives in Bihar who made a shocking confession: they routinely killed newborn baby girls at the families’ request. These unseen testimonies form the starting point of a documentary that uncovers the disturbing history of female infanticide in rural India. But the film also tells the story of a remarkable social worker who, over the years, turned these very midwives into allies in a campaign to save baby girls. Decades later, Parashar meets a young woman who may have been one of those saved and follows her as she returns to meet the midwife who saved her life.
