While the genre is often associated with male Delta bluesmen, it was Black women who first brought the blues to the recording industry and mainstream American culture.

The session will touch more on the role that women played in shaping the blues, the artiste that paved the way for generations to come, like the phenomenal artiste Shakura S’aida , and Sugaray Rayford.

Both will be performing at the NCPA Soulful blues on March 28th and 29th.
