English Play

Based on the immensely popular Twinkle Khanna’s charming & inspiring short story, ‘Salaam Noni Appa’, this is the delightful and heart-warming tale of an autumn romance performed by a set of wonderful actors.

Directed and produced by the highly acclaimed Director/ Actress Lillete Dubey ( of “ Zubeida” “Monsoon Wedding “ , “ Baghban” etc fame ) who also plays the title role of Noni Appa, a mature widow.

Noni Appa and her sister Binnie( the very talented Jayati Bhatia from “Sasural Simar ka” & “ Heeramandi “ among others) are two women, opposite in nature, whose world after marriage, children and widowhood is once again a shared one in which they laugh, bicker, fight, love and spend their days in a familiar, comfortable, if staid, manner.

And then one day, Noni Appa suddenly finds herself falling in love with a married man a few years younger than her (brought to life by the veteran actor Yateen Karyekar) , and is torn between choosing companionship over respectability. Salaam Noni Appa is a play full of warmth and wit, a play about breaking stereotypes, about being open to new adventures, and about being true to oneself and rediscovering what makes life really worth living.
