An NCPA Presentation
Supported by Citi
The Indian subcontinent abounds in a variety of musical instruments that call for considerable specialisation in their usage. Instruments can be used to present music solos, provide melodic or rhythmic accompaniment, or produce drones.
The 13th edition of this two-day festival will showcase four independent groups of musicians wielding instruments adapted from the West. These belong to different categories—string-plucked (mandolin), string-bowed (violin), reed-hand pumped (harmonium) and plucked (gandharvi or adopted slide guitar).
On each day, Dr. Suvarnalata Rao will present a pre-event talk on specific instruments featured that day.
