Short Film Screenings

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with White Wall Screenings 

Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.

 

Ek Kadam
Hindi Film (21 mins)

Anuradha Solanki is a middle-aged submissive housewife who has not stepped out of her house for many years without her husband, Mahendra Solanki. But things change when Mahendra meets with an accident and fractures his left leg. Now Anuradha must go out alone. At first, she is nervous and scared of making mistakes. Will she eventually regain her confidence and re-discover her lost self?

A cab driver affiliated with a ride-hailing service is struggling to maintain good ratings on his job. He accepts a ride request for Shraddha, who is moving her grandmother, suffering from dementia, to a hospice. The journey leads to a series of events and heartbreaking revelations.

Halfway
English Film (9 mins)

When a turbulent couple finds themselves at opposing entrances of the Juhu beach, they are compelled to walk towards each other and meet the other person halfway.
