Short Film Screenings

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with White Wall Screenings

Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.

Nothing Happened
Hindi Film (26 mins)

The essence of the narrative is about how certain cardinal sins come together to rupture the lives of two people, who eventually find solace in each other’s stories from the past.

Directed by Himanshu Mishro Mondal

Chupi Roh
Hindi/Himachali/Dogri Film (16 mins)

Chupi Roh is about a family of three—Leela, Raju and their son, Abbu. They live in a small, beautiful village deep in the Himalayas. Abbu is struggling with his gender identity and Raju is stricken by loss and a sense of failure while Leela tries to find a way to deal with everything in the best possible way she knows.

Directed by Disha Bhardwaj

Pankh
Hindi Film (30 mins)

Leading a lonely village life, Ratna’s dreams take flight when she meets Om, a filmmaker, musician and traveller, who wants to write stories and explore music in the lap of nature. A bond develops between them through music. Om leaves the village eventually and Ratna, by failing to acknowledge her true desires, is deeply affected. The film is a modern take on the short story ‘Postmaster’ by Rabindranath Tagore.

Directed by Vikas Dani
