Short Film Screenings

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with White Wall Screenings

Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.

Phillum
Hindi Film with English Subtitles (17 mins)

This film is about a boy whose love for cinema grows deeper with age. Born and brought up in a village, as the son of a sarpanch, he can afford to watch every new film that is screened in the small theatre in another village. He watches avidly as if he is a part of these films and lives the stories they portray. At school the next day, his entire class listens intently as he narrates the story of the film. He continues to do this till he grows up and it is revealed that this was all actually a film within a film.

Directed by Krunal Pandya

Domestic Help
English Film with English Subtitles (21 mins)

Thomas, a timid clown who was not funny enough to make it in entertainment, gets placed as a domestic helpe for Jennifer, a woman who needs assistance executing her never-ending list of chores. Thomas is good at taking orders, but his job performance begins to suffer once he notices the abandoned children in Jennifer’s backyard.

Directed by Raveesh Jaiswal

Sunn Toh
No Dialogues with English Subtitles (15 mins)

Two friends are on the cusp of achieving the greatest feat of their careers, one that can bring them fame and fortune. But time has chosen that very moment to test the conscience of one and the principles of the other and pit them against each other.
