Short Film Screenings

An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with White Wall Screenings

Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.

Love As We Know It
Hindi Film with English Subtitles (13 mins)

On a dark and suspenseful Christmas Eve, Keith and Sana, a couple in their early 30s, embark on a tense journey with a wrapped body in their trunk. Their strained conversation reveals a relationship haunted by past trauma and unspoken grief. Keith’s agitation and Sana’s eerie calmness clash as they struggle to understand their actions and consequences. As they drive through the night, their dialogue unravels layers of loneliness and emotional turmoil. Their journey is not only a physical one, but also a deep dive into their shared pain and unresolved conflicts. With each passing moment, they inch closer to a confrontation with their deepest fears, which will test their love and resilience in unexpected ways.

Directed by Abhishek Sharma

Hami
Hindi & Sanskrit Film with English Subtitles (21 mins)

Hami tells the poignant story of Girdhari Sir, a dedicated Hindi and Sanskrit teacher, whose daughter Amrita tops his class. As the board exams approach, a new student, named Alok, disrupts the status quo, challenging the teacher’s pet beliefs about academic excellence. Despite his puckish sense of humour, Alok’s exceptional performance in the semester exams forces Girdhari Sir to examine his prejudices and embark on a personal journey of acceptance and understanding. The film explores themes of acceptance, individuality and the transformative power of education.

Directed by Skand Kumar
