An NCPA Presentation in collaboration with White Wall Screenings
Many wonderful short films are being made in India. Filmmakers are at work in their own regions, devising bold, new ways to experiment with form and technique. Short Film Corner hopes to be a showcase for these films and open a dialogue between the filmmakers and their audiences.
Over a cup of chai
English and Hindi with English Subtitles (17 mins)
Nitya surprises her mom, Saira on a lazy Sunday. As the mother-daughter exchange pleasantries, it is obvious there are undercurrents causing tension between the duo. Tensions further escalate when Nitya’s partner, Aryan arrives, unaware of the conflict between the mother and daughter. Will Saira and Nitya be able to forgive each other? Was Nitya’s surprise hiding something important? Will Saira move on from the past? Over a cup of chai explores these uneasy dynamics and hopes to leave the audience with a feeling empathy for these characters. The film wishes to celebrate the triumph of love over hate and conflict.

Momo Deal
Hindi with English Subtitles (17 mins)
After Naman’s best friend Mahima dies unexpectedly, the stoic young man must confront his emotions and fulfill her final wish to eat momos with her. Even if it means spending a surreal night with her ghost wandering the streets of Jaipur. The movie explores themes of friendship, loss and the importance of expressing emotions.

CHAI COFFI
Hindi with English Subtitles (22 mins)
After her husband’s death, Lata, a 60–year–old homemaker embarks on a solo trip to a tea estate in Kerala, leaving the comforts of her village behind for the first time ever. The film follows her extraordinary adventure as she navigates feelings of wonder, grief and surprises. The film takes a turn when she meets 12–year–old Mira who is carefree, independent and lives life to the fullest. Chai- Coffi is a heartwarming tale that weaves together themes of friendship, loss, courage and self–discovery.

Entry free on a first-come-first-served basis. NCPA Members will get preferential seating till 6.20 pm.
