Peter Donohoe, conductor/piano
An NCPA Presentation
For the first time in India, multifaceted pianist Peter Donohoe will perform with and conduct the SOI Chamber Orchestra in a programme that is commemorative in many respects. Edvard Grieg’s Holberg Suite celebrates the 200th birth anniversary of Ludvig Holberg, considered to be the founder of modern Danish literature; Benjamin Britten’s Simple Symphony drew inspiration from themes written during the composer’s childhood; and Edward Elgar’s work for strings was originally composed for the newly formed London Symphony Orchestra. An acclaimed pianist, Donohoe’s versatility will also be showcased in a performance of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.12 in A major.
Programme:
Edvard Grieg: Holberg Suite
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, K414
Benjamin Britten: Simple Symphony, Op. 4
Edward Elgar: Introduction and Allegro for Strings, Op.47
