An NCPA Presentation

The SOI Chamber Orchestra collaborates with The Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus/Aalborg (RAMA) and The Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM) for an evening of sublime classical music under the baton of Maria Badstue. The programme features Helios Overture by Danish composer Carl Nielsen who is said to have drawn inspiration for this work from the ancient myth of Helios while overlooking the idyllic Aegean Sea. The evening also features one of Denmark’s most versatile and renowned concert pianists, Søren Rastogi who will present Rachmaninoff’s beloved and frequently played work, the Piano Concerto No.2known for its lush orchestration, string of memorable themes and the sheer overwhelming emotion of it all. The concert culminates with Symphony No. 5 by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, specially commissioned by the Finnish government in honour of his 50th birthday.
