Carlo Rizzi, conductor

Dvořák: Symphony No. 8
Sibelius: Symphony No. 2

The third concert of the Spring 2026 Season features the SOI under the baton of acclaimed Italian conductor Carlo Rizzi. The programme opens with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, a work brimming with warmth, Bohemian spirit and lyrical charm. Full of vibrant melodies and folk-inspired rhythms, it reflects the composer’s love for nature and his homeland. The evening continues with Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, often considered his ‘Symphony of Independence’. Majestic and emotionally charged, the work moves from pastoral beauty to a triumphant finale, embodying the strength and soul of the Finnish spirit.
