Carlo Rizzi will lead the SOI in the final concert of the season in a rich and varied programme that blends operatic drama, lyrical beauty and symphonic power. The evening opens with Rossini’s sparkling Overture to Semiramide, a dazzling showcase of orchestral brilliance. A selection of beloved Italian songs by Tosti and Cardillo follows, filled with heartfelt emotion and romantic lyricism, performed by internationally acclaimed Italian tenor Davide Giusti. Puccini’s Intermezzo from Manon Lescaut and Wagner’s Prelude to Act III of Lohengrin add dramatic intensity and lush orchestration to the programme. The season concludes with Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 5, a powerful and revolutionary work whose unforgettable four-note motif has come to symbolise triumph over adversity.
