The season opens with British maestro Martyn Brabbins, Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of India, known for his expressive command of symphonic and operatic works and deep musical insight. The evening opens with Mussorgsky’s Prelude to Khovanshchina, a haunting and atmospheric depiction of dawn over the Moscow River. This is followed by Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, a youthful and bold work that marked the beginning of a new era in symphonic music. This also marks the launch of the Beethoven Symphony Cycle by the SOI. The concert concludes with The Planets, Holst’s dazzling orchestral suite that takes listeners on a powerful journey through the astrological characters of seven planets, from the ferocity of Mars to the ethereal mystery of Neptune, featuring a female chorus offstage which will be sung by Living Voices Mumbai.
